Passport Information
The Kittitas County Clerk's Office acts as a sub-agent for the Seattle
Passport Agency. Our office can process the application for new passports and
provide forms for renewals. Our hours are 9:00 a.m. to Noon and 1:00 p.m. to
5:00 p.m. No appointment is necessary.
Passport photos are available in this office for $10.
Application for a new passport
You will need the following:
- A state certified birth certificate. If you are a naturalized citizen,
you will need to submit your naturalization papers rather than your
certified birth certificate.
- Two photos (must meet size and height requirements). Passport photos are
available in this office for $10.
- The entire completed application, including instructions.
Applications are available on the internet at
http://www.state.gov/travel/.
Do not sign the application until are told to in the Clerk's office
(the signature must be witnessed).
- Your driver's license
- $100 fee for normal processing (approximately 4-6 weeks). For
expedited service (2 to 3 weeks), an additional $60 is required per
passport. Two checks are required. One made payable to the Kittitas County
Clerk for $25 and one made payable to the Department of State for $75. Cash
is no longer an acceptable form of payment for the federal portion of the
fee. Debit or credit cards are not able to be processed by this office for
this service. These prices are for an adult (persons over the age of 16)
passport good for ten years.
- If the applicant is a child under the age of 16, both parents need
to be present and sign the application. Children's passports are $85for
normal processing and will be good for 5 years. If one parent is not
available the signed consent form must be notarized. The child must appear.
Passport Renewal
You may apply through the mail if your meet certain requirements outlined on
the US Department of State's web site at
http://www.state.gov/travel/. Follow the instructions
provided on that site.
