Prior to Permit Application
These are the steps and questions to answer prior to applying for a building
permit:
Assessor's Office
- Exact configuration/measurements of property
- Tax parcel number
Community Development Services
- Critical areas evaluation. Submit site plan for review. Site
plan must show all existing structures on property.
- Property zoning
- Setback requirements
- Is the property located in a floodway or floodplain?
- Is the property located outside of a fire district?
Public Works Department
- Access permit
- Have an address assigned
- Is an extension of municipal utilities required?
Environmental Health
- Will the property meet septic system design requirements?
- Is the water system to be used for more than one residence?
- Will there be any on-side food preparation for the public?
Community Development Services
- Do you have all appropriate information and approvals from the above
steps?
- Will there be fire safety issues that need to be addressed?
- Do you have two drawings to scale to submit?
(Minimum 11"x17" paper. Two sets required.)
- Is the road to your site accessible and clearly marked?
- Are you aware that a minimum deposit is required at the time of building
permit application?
- Have you been notified of an infraction previous to this application?
