Ballots

  • Ballots must be mailed at least 18 days before an election
  • Overseas and service ballots must be mailed at least 30 days before to each election, and 45 days before each primary or general election.
  • Kittitas County mails ballots out 3 weeks (21 days) prior to each election for regular registered voters. Overseas and service ballots are mailed at the required time.
  • All Active registered voters are mailed a ballot if they are eligible to vote in the current election.
  • Voters with Inactive status may request a ballot in person, by mail or by phone. Their status will then be re-instated to Active.
  • Going out of town? If you will be out of town during an election, provide us with your temporary address and we will mail your ballot to you at that location.

Drop boxes are unlocked/opened 21 days prior to each election, and available at the following locations:

  • Kittitas County Courthouse, 205 W. 5th Ave, Ellensburg
    • Main parking lot and in the Courthouse outside Auditor's office
  • Upper Kittitas County District Court 700 E 1st ST, Cle Elum

Accessible Voting Units:

AVU's are operational 18 days prior to each election, located in the Election Control Center, Room 103- Monday - Friday, 9:00am - 4:30pm; and on Election day- Kittitas County Courthouse- 9:00am -8:00pm, Cle Elum Centennial Center, Election day only- 9:00am - 8:00pm.

Tips to ensure your ballot is counted

  • Make sure you have signed the Voter Declaration. If unable to sign your name, make your mark and have it witnessed by 2 individuals
  • If your signature has changed, contact the office to update your signature.
  • Mail your ballot early to be certain that is postmarked no later than election day. (know your post office pick-up times)
  • Apply proper postage if mailed
  • Mark your ballot as instructed.
