Kittitas (pronounced 'KITT-i-tass') County is located in central Washington State. It spans from the lush forested Cascade Mountains to the upper Yakima River Valley plains and the Columbia River.
On December 12th Mr. Jeffrey Houck and Ms. Carey Gazis will be leaving for one week to Sanda City, Japan to represent Kittitas County at the Sanda International Masters Marathon. Kittitas County and Sanda City, Japan recently celebrated their 15-Year Anniversary of their Sister City relationship.
Mr. Houck is a 6th grade teacher at Kittitas Secondary School. His interests include hiking, mountain climbing and motorcycle riding. He is very excited to represent Kittitas County and said he is looking forward to making many friends in Sanda City. He has heard from many others who have made the trip to Sanda, that it was the most memorable event of their lives.
Ms. Gazis is a professor at Central Washington University. Her interests include running, soccer, swimming, cross-country skiing, rock-climbing, biking, hiking and camping. She feels it is an honor to be representing Kittitas County at the International Masters Marathon in Sanda City. Her husband Jeff Hashimoto was selected to represent Kittitas County at the Sanda International Masters Marathon in 2006. She is very anxious to meet new friends and learn about the Japanese culture first hand. This will be her first trip to Japan
